Quote of the Night!

Good evening!

It’s Saturday, and Saturdays usually feature late nights and the like. It’s almost 10:30 PM where I am, so hopefully this meets you just in time. Enjoy, and good night! Happy 50th Anniversary of the Moon Landing!

Music recommendation: Eureka – Huma-Huma.

Destiny is not a matter of chance; it is a matter of choice. It is not a thing to be waited for, it is a thing to be achieved.

  1. Aaaah….William Jennings Bryan. A fascinating populist politician who gave the ‘Cross of Gold” speech. In this speech, he said that the farmers and the working class were being “crucified on a cross of gold”. Bryan was anti-big business and Wall Street. He favored more silver coinage in circulation, a/k/a “free silver”. Bryan ran for President 3 times on the Democrat ticket and lost each time. Later, President Woodrow Wilson made him his Secretary of State. Bryan also was one of the attorneys representing the State of Tennessee, who opposed a Tennessee teacher’s right to teach Darwinism in a public school, in the 1925 Scopes Trial, a/k/a the Scopes Monkey Trial. Scopes was found guilty and was fined $100, but the verdict was overturned on a technicality. A great play, later made into a very good movie, called “Inherit the Wind” (1960) is based on the Scopes Trial and starred Spencer Tracey and Fredric March.

Here are my thoughts...
